  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    John and Marion Gibson were the first free settlers in the Hay District, New South Wales. They had arrived from Scotland in 1854 and leased land at Gunbar in 1876. Their eldest son, Robert, was Mayor of Hay in 1892, 1902 and 1903, and other members of the family were prominent in community affairs of Hay and Gunbar.
