He served at Gallipoli and in Belgium in World War, 1914-1918, after which he worked in Canada, Africa, India and China - Scope and ContentDescribes his youth in Hobart and Campbell Town, Tasmania, with descriptions of early trains, motor-cars and his apprenticeship at the railway workshops, Hobart, his work as a marine engineer in Glasgow after leaving Hobart in 1912, including trials of battle-cruisers Sydney and Australia, service with British forces at Gallipoli and Flanders during World War I and his life up to 1938
