    Information provided by donor. PXB 490/1 inscribed "Lady Clementina Bowen" on verso (i.e. Diamantina). PXB 490/1 and 2 inscribed "(in the 70's)" on verso; Bowen was Governor 1858-1868; Governor Blackall died in office in 1871.

  • General note

    Presented together with a letter from Louisa Mackenzie, the wife of Sir Robert Ramsay Mackenzie, to her cousin Elizabeth, with watermark date 1858 and written from Kinelland, Brisbane River Valley. The letter was in turn given by the Mitchell Library to the John Oxley Library at the State Library of Queensland; a xerox copy was kept by the Mitchell Library and is filed at ML DOC 1635.
