    Mary Josephine Parer was born on 6 March 1903 in Melbourne, Victoria, one of nine children and sister of Raymond John Paul Parer. On 13 September 1926, under the name Mary Wfred Parer, she married Henry Emmett Shiel, with whom she had three daughters. She died in 1982 and is buried in Brisbane, Queensland.

  • Scope and Content
    Photographic print copy of a montage of photographs about the life of Ray Parer around his travels as an aviator between England and Australia and to Papua New Guinea. The montage includes a written account by him entitled "Memories of Cooktown, Port Douglas and Somerset" signed 27 January 1967. All photographs are annotated with names of individuals and dates.
