    DN/M 1284-1285 (located at call no. SAFE/DR 187)

    CROSS
    A gold, seven pointed star with V-shaped extremities in pattern of a Maltese Cross enamelled white and edged gold.
    Obverse: in centre in coloured relief is Saint Michael holding a sword and trampling upon Satan. Legend: 'Auspicium Melioris Aevi' [Augury of a better time] in gold on a circle of blue enamel.
    Reverse: Saint George on horseback fighting a dragon with a spear. Legend: As for obverse.
    Cross is surmounted by a royal crown in gold with ring on top which holds a richly watered Saxon blue doubled riband with a central scarlet stripe. Gold clasp sewn onto ends of riband.

    STAR
    A silver eight pointed star charged with the red Saint George's cross and in the centre an enamelled medallion of Saint and Satan similar to that on obverse of Cross, encircled by a blue fillet with words as on obverse. Clasp on back.

    Cross and Star kept in a rectangular shaped, puple velvet and satin lined case with hinged lid. Inside lid trademark consisting of a royal crown surrounded by the inscription: 'R. & S. Garrard & Co. Goldsmiths & Jewellers to the Crown. 25 Haymarket London'
