    The expedition started from Cooktown to make a preliminary survey for the telegraph line. The journal is summarised and extracts are given in Jack, R. L.- Northmost Australia v. 2. This copy was made by F. H. Bauer 1957 from a carbon copy in the P. M. G's Department, the original which was used by R. L. Jack being now lost. Bradford's Christian name is from Jack, R. L. - Northmost Australia v. 2, p. 662 et seq. Jack states this is Bradford's journal, a fact not obvious from the copy above
