- Scope and ContentThe letters are those in the Oxley Library, Queensland, acquired 1952. Patrick Leslie came out in 1835, between 1836-1839 he learned sheep farming mainly from the Vineyard Macarthurs and took over the management of his uncle's (W. S. Davidson) flocks at Collaroy. After the arrival of his brothers Walter and George in 1839, he and Walter went out to the Darling Downs in search of a run and established the Canning Downs Station and Goomburra while George managed a stud at Dunheved. The early letters describe Sydney's social life, land situation, farming and general conditions
