    Robert Louis Stevenson visited Sydney in February 1890 for health reasons and to consult an architect regarding plans for his new home in Vailima. In April he was very ill, and returned with his family to Samoa. He returned for a short while in August 1890 and again in January 1891 to meet his mother, who was arriving on her way from Scotland to Samoa. However, he again became ill and left in February with his mother
