  • Scope and Content
Garrison orders and occasional government and general orders issued from Government House, Hobart Town. The orders concern the routine running of the Garrison including stores, surveys and parades, court martials sometimes with details of the proceedings and punishments, etc. Also included are orders relating to the general community, for example, Governor Macquarie's visit, assembling of the bench of magistrates, high price of labour, bushrangers, musters and pardons, etc.

On front end paper, a manuscript note by James Erskine Calder, dated 15 November 1880, states the Garrison order book was presented to him by Mr. Todd. Calder mentions the book in his manuscript on James Belbin at DLMS 62, p. 69.
