  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    George Hobler arrived in Tasmania in 1826 and went to New South Wales in 1836. He took up station properties at Maitland, Patrick's Plains, Namoi River, New England, Goulburn, Darling River and at Bacchus Marsh, Victoria. He was the first man to occupy land in the Lower Darling district. From 1852 onwards the journal was written in California.

    Volumes 1, 3-8 with typewritten summary. Seven volumes of his journal are occupied with detailed accounts of his life as a squatter in Tasmania, New South Wales and Victoria.
