    James Mudie, 1779-1852, served in the Royal Marines until his dismissal in August 1810. He arrived in Sydney in July 1822 with an order for a land grant. Mrs. Averil F. Fink and Bernard T. Dowd published articles on James Mudie in the Australian Dictionary of Biography and the Royal Australian Historical Society Journal
