  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Born in 1912, Allison Perry lived with her family in Mosman from 1928 until her death in 1989. She sailed to Great Britain in February 1937 on board the S.S. Port Hardy arriving in London for the coronation of King George VI and Elizabeth, Queen Consort. After travelling through England she went to France, Germany and Italy before departing for Sydney from Naples on 22 August 1937 on the S.S. Ormonde. Back in Sydney, Allison worked as a Volunteer Air Observer during World War II, 1939-1945.
    She later trained, and worked, as a masseuse - her practice was in Mosman, Sydney.
  • Scope and Content
    This collection includes (1) 32 handwritten letters from Allison to her family and friends, 8 March 1937 to 12 September 1937; (2) a handwritten journal covering the period 26 February, 1937 to 27 July, 1937; (4) 4 printed dinner menus from the voyage on the S.S. Port Hardy; (4) Orient Line pocket folder containing ticket of voyage to Sydney, 7 information brochures on ports stopped at during the voyage, and 4 printed dinner menus from the return voyage on the S.S Ormonde; (5) printed booklets on Wales and the Lovely Lake-lands; (6) printed Dunlop Touring map of the British Isles; (7) printed guidebooks for the British Isles, the city of London, London bus routes and the London underground; (8) printed maps and brochures of Germany, the Rhine and Naples; (9) printed Motor bus tour of England & Scotland.
