    George Samuel Windsor, Earl, scientist, author, ethnologist and linguist, came to Australia at the age of 15. His chief interest was in the establishment of a settlement on Australia's northern coast, and he was partly instrumental in the settlement of Port Essington, where he served as Police Magistrate and Commissioner for Crown Lands until 1849, in which year he went to Singapore as Law Agent.
