  • Scope and Content
Letter describing the negotiations between the merchants Messrs. Palmer and Company of Calcutta and the owner of the ship Eliza over the tender price for transporting six convicts from India to New South Wales. The letter also explains the decision of the Marine Board to accept a higher tender price than usual (300 rupees instead of 200) due to the scarcity of opportunities to convey convicts from India to New South. The names of nine convicts awaiting transportation, of whom six were to be conveyed on the Eliza, appear in the Margin of the letter. The ship Eliza arrived at Port Jackson on July 5th, 1813
