  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Margaret Windeyer, daughter of Mary and William Windeyer, completed a two year course at the New York State Library School in 1899. In 1901 she was apppointed to the Public Library of New South Wales as a cataloguer and by 1911 was in charge of the Reading Room, catalogue and indexes. She retired in 1926 but continued to work part time as an indexer until the 1930s. She was also active in various feminist organisations.

Includes a copy of a professional reference for Margaret Windeyer provided by Melvil Dewey as well as examples of library forms from various American libraries including request slips, book cards and membership forms as well as published lists of titles from various American libraries.
