    William Thomas Neasmith (1893-1954) was born in Blayney, N.S.W. In 1916, he enlisted and served as a Sapper in the 1 Divisional Signal Company. He saw action in the Battles of Passchendale and Amiens. On his return to Sydney, he married Kathleen Miller Crane (1894-1968) on 3 November 1919.

    The collection includes photocopied transcripts of diaries kept by William Thomas Neasmith during his service, Book 1 (December 1916-February 1917) and Book 2 (May 1917-January 1919); 2 photocopies of a map of Belgium that highlights the places mentioned in the diaries; photocopies of the journals 'The weakly effort', 9 January 1917 and The "D-Mob", 22 January 1919; photocopy of an article on the 2nd Division Signals company; obituaries for William Thomas Neasmith and for his wife, Kathleen Miller Neasmith.
