  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Known to his friends and family as Tas, Drysdale painted some of the most iconic landscapes of the Australian outback and in the 1940s his paintings and drawings enabled city people to see the devastating effect of drought on the land. During the spring of 1930, with a school friend, `Bunny’ Reed, Drysdale oversaw the shearing and farm work at Boxwood Park in his father’s absence, then worked for some months at Pioneer with his uncle Cluny Drysdale. He decided then to be a farmer, and settled on the family farm at Boxwood in the Riverina, however he lacked the necessary skills so he moved his family to Sydney, and focused on his career in art.
