  • Scope and Content
4 page handwritten letter written from Ann McDonald to her brothers and sisters in Glasgow, 10 May 1834.

In the letter McDonald describes a large storm which she encountered on her passage to Sydney and that many people on board the ship were distraught and praying for their lives. After travelling through Hobart where two passengers were married, they arrived in Sydney where Ann was reunited with her mother, father and brother who "all cried for joy". She describes her brother William's shop and the large house he has built as well as the gifts he gave to her including a muslin print, ribbons and a set of combs.

Ann sends warm regards to her brothers and sisters and waits in hope for their arrival.
