    Leslie Pownall (1897-1962) enlisted on 28 February 1916 at Mosman Town Hall aged 18 years and 9 months. He completed his education at several small schools in the Mosman area and at Barker College. He was then employed as a clerk at the Perpetual Trustee Company in Hunter Street, Sydney when aged 17.

    He was assigned as a Gunner in the 5th Field Artillery Brigade number 28051 and saw action on the Western Front including Flanders, Ypres, Polygon Wood, the Somme and Villiers Bretonneaux.
  • Scope and Content
    The collection includes Pownall war diary and photographs together with documents of discharge. It also includes a military pass for 1944.
