Letters are addressed to Krefft in his capacity as "Curator & Secretary of the Australian Museum, Sydney", and to Mrs. [Annie] Krefft as a widow. Includes preparations for the Great Exhibition in Paris in 1867; donation of specimens; printed articles including 'Australian animals in New Guinea with description of a new species of freshwater tortoise ...'); disposal of Krefft's papers and manuscripts with a reply by Annie Krefft; letters of sympathy. Some of the drawings are of snake heads with descriptions. There are also handwritten notes accompanied by drawings regarding conflict with Trustees of the Australian Museum. Some correspondence in German, and French, one article in Italian.
