Herbert Compton was a professional librarian for 30 years who has kept a diary from January 1964 to date. He comes from Sydney and only moved to Brisbane in 2003.

Item 1
Green hardback, with “TRAVELS ABROAD” engraved on the bottom-right corner. Inside is 31 pages of typed text explaining the intended function of each section of the book, followed by a title page to begin the itinerary section. The remainder of the book is filled with diary entries, aside from some pages towards the end where ther are maps of the world. Throughout the diary, some entry information is written in red pen. Total of 153 pages of text.

Item 2
Yellow paperback, entitled “Personal Directory please Look in the phone Book”. Inside is 25 pages of text, including a cover page, followed by 24 pages of diary entries. Entries are written in black or blue pen with additional information written in red pen.
