George Ferguson was the grandson of one of Angus and Robertson's founders George Robertson. His father was the bibliographer John Alexander Ferguson. He began working for the company in 1927, and took over as Angus and Robertson's publisher after World War II. - Collection historyAcquired from Lloyd's Bookshop, Brisbane in ca. 1990.
- Scope and ContentThis speech, discussing 19th century booksellers, was given by George Ferguson to the Royal Australian Historical Society, and formed the basis of his book 'Some early Australian bookmen' (1978). The typescript contains additional typed and ink corrections and insertions. Endnote numbers are inserted in pencil.
