  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Suzon Fuks is a photographer and co-artistic director (along with James Cunningham) of the multi-arts company Igneous Inc. Born in Belgium, she migrated to Australia in 1996. Between 2009-2011 she held an Australia Council fellowship for her Waterworld intermedia project. He photographs have been reproduced in Magazins and books, and are held in private and public collections.

    The Women’s Interfaith Network was convened in March 2001 by Josie Lacey OAM, a member of the Jewish community. The Network aims to bring together women of different faiths in order to promote mutual understanding, respect and harmony among followers of different religions. The group includes representatives from Aboriginal, Bahai, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, Zoroastrian and Quaker communities.

  • Scope and Content
    A collection of 7 digital photographs documenting the Women's Interfaith Network meeting held in the Parkes Room, Parliament House, Macquarie Street, Sydney, 25 February 2016. This was the coming together of prominent women in a shared space, to represent their own religions and share in each other’s faiths. The photographs reflect the role of female leaders in contemporary religious life and in the wider community. Attendees at the meeting included Josie Lacey OAM (Jewish leader and convenor of the Women’s Interfaith Network), Zohra Aly (Muslim), Thubten Chokyi (Tibetan Buddist nun), Mina Batra (Sikh), Mohini Gunasekera AM (Buddhist) and Dr Marianne Dacey AM (Catholic sister).
