ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Mavis Turner (1933-) was born in Quirindi, New South Wales. Granted a scholarship to study commercial art at East Sydney Technical College in 1950, she went on to open Tiffany Art Studio Pty Ltd in Sydney in 1963. She retired from advertising in 2001.

Documenting historic trees and buildings in Sydney and surrounding areas, she regularly exhibits her drawings. Turner held her first solo exhibition 'Historic Trees: Hardy Wilson and Beyond' at the National Trust Centre, Observatory Hill in 2007. Two of her drawings were also exhibited in 'Botanica 2010 Treasuring Plants: Treasuring our Planet' at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney.
