    Susanne Stuby (Susie) was born in Vienna, Austria in 1930 and escaped to England in 1939 during the Nazi occupation. She moved to Sydney in 1947 and married Gerald Engel in 1951. In 1958 Susanne and her husband along with other parents of children with intellectual disabilities helped establish a school called Inala in West Pennant Hills. This school was run by Dr Joachim Pohl and his wife Kyra for children with special needs and was based on Rudolf Steiner’s ‘Waldorf’ education methodology.
