- Scope and ContentJohn Andrews describes his architectural career in Australia. He talks about returning to Australia with his wife Rosemary and their four sons to live in Palm Beach, Sydney, and working on Cameron Offices, A.C.T. He gives his thoughts on the Australian architectural scene and its tendency towards “tall poppy syndrome”. He describes working on projects including the King George Tower in Sydney, various educational and hotel convention buildings, and eventually winning the commission for the prestigious Intelsat headquarters in Washington D.C., a project later marred by financial scandal. He reflects on the highs and lows of his career, and how much he thinks architecture is about problem solving. He describes living in his country property in Eugowra and setting up a vineyard, and how his health problems obliged him to move to Orange.
