The London office was established in 1923. The Herald Office was situated at 58 Fleet Street, London. The journalist on staff was a member of the Sydney Staff and the position was rotated about every two years so that an Australian perspective was preserved and to provide a procession of staff with the experience of working in London. The London Manager sent cables to Sydney for exclusive publication in the Herald and carried on a correspondence with senior staff in Sydney to provide information about less pressing matters. He worked independently of the major international news gathering organisations. By 1945 the designation was changed to London Manager and Editor.
The role of the manager altered in 1962 when John Fairfax & Sons (Australia) Pty Ltd was registered as a company in the United Kingdom

The series consists of correspondence usually divided into bundles according to the activity concerned. The correspondence was between the Editor and Manager London Office and various senior Sydney Fairfax Officials. It appears that the series was maintained by the General Manager. The series is not in strict chronological order. The contents are as follows:
