These lists were compiled by the Fairfax archivist. They provide a chronological list of events in the history of Fairfax companies, subsidiary companies and the newspaper industry. These include dates relevant to the Fairfax family, appointments, acquisition of other businesses, company constitution, printing technology; price of newspapers; the appointment and resignation of high profile staff; changes to fonts; milestones in the size of the newspaper; the commencement of various columns and special sections in the Herald, industrial relations, prices for lodging classified and display advertisements, record numbers of advertisements, circulation figures.
As the series progressed there is less information about the newspaper world in general and more emphasis on events at Fairfax.
