  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    George Nicholas, an itinerant photographer in Sydney and rural New South Wales, was active in Cootamundra (ca 1855 and 1887–98), Sydney (ca 1860–1884), Murrumbarrah (ca 1887), West Maitland (ca 1860s–c1890s) and Temora (1896–97).

    Sigrid Andreas Samuel Flodin was born in Sweden (1846) and married in Sydney in 1875. He moved to Kiama in 1877 and then on to Wollongong in 1886 and set up photographic studio in both places. Flodin died at Dapto on 19 December 1903.

    4. House with family group and 2 horses standing outside. Building is constructed of wood with a shingle roof. Possibly Kiama or Wollongong area where the photographer S. Flodin lived and worked. Unidentified, ca 1870-ca 1900. S. Flodin Photo Artist stamped on verso.
