  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Joseph Harold Palmada was a FEDFA union official, and member of the National Committee and secretary of the Sydney District Committee of the Australian Communist Party.

Palmada was a delegate of the Clerks Union, maintenance unions and the Engine Drivers Union (FEDFA), during union disputes at the Tooths Brewery, in the 1980s, including the prolonged dispute concerned with plans to sack 800 workers and the closure of the Waverly Brewery. An anonymous pamphlet 'Whose Shout' was distributed, being a parody of the short lived 'Your Shout' serial. Palmada claimed that "The information in the leaflet could only come from state security sources - ASIO or whatever - because the information is not public knowledge"
