Sir Alfred Webb Johnson (1880-1958) was surgeon to Queen Mary and Rudyard Kipling's doctor during his final illness. From 1941 to 1949 he was President of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. - Scope and ContentComprises the correspondence of Sir Alfred Edward Webb-Johnson GCVO CBE DSO TD FRCS. It mainly concerns letters received from Marlborough House, Buckingham Palace, College of Arms and the Prime Minister, relating to the granting of knighthood, K.V.C.O, Baronetcy and Barony. Also includes correspondence regarding a message from Queen Mary to be read by Sir Alfred Edward Webb-Johnson at the Royal College of Surgeons of Australasia (1938), and a letter from convalescent hospital Harewood House in Leeds (1941). The material also contains notices/advertisements from printing firms MacRae & Boyle and MacRae, Moxon & Co (1880s).
