  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Augusta Sophia Quigley (1874-1972) was one of three children of William Bell Quigley and Margaret Scott Quigley, née Mitchell (sister of David Scott Mitchell). The Quigley estate at Teralba was left by James Mitchell to his daughter Margaret in 1869. The first Awaba house was built there in 1878 for Margaret Scott Quigley, and William Quigley, who died a few months later on March 18 1879. Margaret Quigley and the three children, James, Augusta Sophia and William continued to live in the house, until it was burned down during 1886. In 1887 a new single storied weatherboard house was erected on the site, occupied by William Quigley's brother, Daniel Quigley and the three orphaned Quigley children and later, his wife Mary Violet Ferguson who he married in 1889. Augusta Sophia Quigley travelled on the continent in 1895-96 and 1898 with Miss Ellen Francis Ferguson
