    Reverend Barzillai Quaife (1798-1873) was a Congregational and Presbyterian minister who arrived in Adelaide in 1839. In 1840 he moved to Kororareka (now Russell) in New Zealand where he published the New Zealand Advertiser and Bay of Islands Gazette. He was the founder of the first Congregational Church in the country. In 1844 he left New Zealand for Sydney and spent some years preaching at Parramatta as well as forming a Congregational church there and building a chapel.

    Reverend Algernon Wells (1793-1850) was a Congregationalist minister. From 1837 to 1850 he was joint secretary of the Congregational Union and the Colonial Missionary Society.
