John Stapleton (1952- ), is a journalist and writer who worked for the Sydney Morning Herald as a staff news reporter between 1986 and 1994, and for the The Australian from 1994 to 2009. He then established A Sense of Place Publishing, and has self-published several books.

Sandor Berger (1925-2006) was a writer and Domain speaker known for his views on psychiatry and other topics. He donated many of his writings and pamphlets to the Mitchell Library during 1960s-1970s.

Vicki Viidikas (1948-1998) was a Sydney-born writer and poet who was part of underground poetry scene in Balmain from the late 1960s.

Two handwritten letters received by John Stapleton, 1989-1990, and a printed order of service from the funeral of author and poet, Vicki Viidikas, 1998. The first letter is from Sandor Berger, 1989, and is written on a large sheet of paper which has an article by Stapleton about Berger from the November 14, 1989, Sydney Morning Herald, photocopied in the top left hand corner. The second letter is from Vicki Viidikas and includes publishing advice and details about her life as a writer, 27 March 1990.
