The Ukrainian-Australian Archive Project was a joint project between the State Library of New South Wales, the Ukrainian Studies Foundation in Australia and the Ukrainian State Research Library, Odessa. The Project's aim was to collect, catalogue and preserve archival material concerning the settlement of Ukrainians in Australia.

The first phase of the project commenced in August 1995 with the arrival of Dr Olga Botushanska, Director of the Ukrainian State Research Library, Odessa, Ukraine.

The Sydney Domra Ensemble was founded by Cyril Matveeff in 1960. The Ensemble was made up of musicians from a variety of ethnic backgrounds including Dutch, Chinese and Australian and performed traditional and classical mostly Russian music using Domras, a long-necked Belarusian, Russian, and Ukrainian folk string instrument of the lute family.
