    Rosalie Bragg started work at the Stockton Centre in 1962. She trained as a mental health nurse and then as a general nurse. Apart from three years working in aged care, she has spent her entire career at Stockton.
    Joy Lewis started work on the wards at the Stockton Centre in 1959. After undergoing training, she was appointed as a recreation officer. She retired in 2007.

    Oral history interview with Rosalie Bragg and Joy Lewis, conducted by Sue Andersen and Laila Ellmoos and transcribed by Kerrie McGovan. Rosalie Bragg and Joy Lewis talk about: starting work at the Stockton Centre, Rosalie in 1962 and Joy in 1959; their early experiences on the wards and the lack of orientation; Rosalie's training as a psychiatric nurse; Joy's training as a recreation officer; changes in government departments overseeing the Stockton Centre; the introduction of the disability support pension and its effect on residents; their working conditions; the school and preschool at Stockton; Rosalie's move to nurse education; changes in the use of physical and chemical restraints; the first boys to come to Stockton; residents who escaped; the 'foster grans' program; preparing residents for moving into the community; memories of some residents; access to the wards and units; and the workshop.
