Henri Paul Louis Camille Desaulses de Freycinet (1857-1954) was the son of Charles Henri Auguste Desaulses de Freycinet (1823-1881) and the grandson of Louis Henri Desaulses de Freycinet, 1777-1840. He entered the French Navy in 1874. He was midshipman on the ironclad La Galissonnière which sailed to the Caribbean under Rear Admiral Peyron in 1878-1880. He attained the rank of Capitaine de frégate in the French Navy in 1899. - Scope and ContentNotes about official visits as a midshipman to West Indies, New York, Halifax, Quebec and Sydney, written in various places, [1874-1880], (22 pages, with Laage archive stamp, Carton 22 Dossier 321).

A pencil note on the front of the folder indicates that midshipman Henri de Freycinet left these notes with his father when Charles Henri de Freycinet was commander in chief of the Naval Division in the Antilles in 1880 (succeeding Rear Admiral Peyron). - Subject
