    Ida Leeson (1885-1964) began her working career as a teacher, before taking up a position at the Public Library of New South Wales as a library assistant in 1906. She transferred to a position in the Mitchell Library in 1909 and was later appointed appointed principal accessions officer in 1919. Leeson was appointed Mitchell Librarian from 1932 to 1945.

  • Scope and Content
    Typed letter from Mitchell Librarian, Ida Leeson, to Colonel Wynne, signed and dated 14 October 1941. In response to an enquiry from Colonel Wynne, Ida Leeson provides an account of the Peppin family, including their move from England to Australia in 1850, the purchase of the Wanganella Station in 1858, and the purchase of the Morago and Boonoke properties. Leeson also includes information about George Hall Peppin, his two sons, George and Federick, and grandchildren. Breeding of the Peppin strain of merino sheep is described and two books about the Peppin breeding methods are listed.
