- Scope and ContentIn this oral history interview, Oliver Costello, speaks about his life and career path, and his experiences during the 2019-2020 bushfires. Oliver discusses how cultural burning is intrinsically connected to knowledge of country, how it contributes to cultural learning experiences for those that perform the burns, and how the burning differs to hazard reduction burning. He talks about how cultural burning can be used in conjunction with other fire management practices, and responds to the perceptions and challenges faced by those carrying out the practice. Oliver also speaks of learning of his Indigenous family and heritage and how he became interested in and passionate about connecting to country.
