    Luke Davies was born in Sydney in 1962. He graduated with a B.A. (Hons), English Literature from the University of Sydney and has worked variously as a teacher, journalist and script editor. His collection of poetry `Absolute Event Horizon' was shortlisted for the 1995 Turnbull Fox Phillips poetry prize. He has published two novels Candy (1997), Isabelle the Navigator (2000) and several volumes of poetry. His books have won many awards, including the inaugural Prime Minister's Literary Award for Poetry for his volume Interferon Psalms, and the Age Book of the Year prize for his volume Totem. He co-wrote the screenplay adaptation of his own novel Candy with director Neil Armfield and won a BAFTA and was nominated for an Oscar for his screenplay adaptation of Lion.
