  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Tingha is a town south of Inverell on the northern tablelands of New South Wales. In the early 1870s the area was the site of a tin mining rush. It is estimated that at the height of the rush, a quarter of the 6000 miners on the diggings were Chinese. The story of the Chinese miners in the area is an important part of Tingha’s history, and their heritage is preserved in the local Wing Hing Long Museum.
