  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Francis Robert Johnson (d.1972) lived at 29 Weldon Street Burwood from around 1919 onwards. The residence is depicted in some of the glass plates. Francis Johnson died in 1972, he was predeceased by his wife Doris (d. 1960). Their two children Francis Grenville (d.1985) and Maxwell Kelvin (d.1993) did not have any descendants.

  • Scope and Content
    A set of glass plate negatives of the Johnson family who lived in Burwood from 1919. Includes two images of Armistice Day street celebrations in Martin Place, Sydney following the end of the First World War, an image of the Johnson’s house at 29 Weldon Street, Burwood, images of family scenes, and images of young girls in costumes. Also includes fragments of a letter from The Waverley Book Co to F.R. Johnson Esq, Burwood NSW 24 January 1928, and directions for use for Seltona collodion self-toning paper.
