  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

Cadell Almonds grows three varieties of almonds on 1,694 hectares at Balranald, New South Wales. During harvest time, which lasts three months, Cadell employs around 75 seasonal workers.

Almondco is a large processing plant in Griffith, which removes the shells from the almonds, sorts and quality checks them, bags them and then sends them on to other factories for further processing.

Growtek nursery in the Riverina grows new almond trees for the industry.

From March–early April 2022, widespread heavy rainfall in the already saturated Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast regions of New South Wales prompted several evacuation orders, as towns contended with flash flooding and rising rivers for the second time in a month. Byron Bay's central business district experienced the worst flash flooding locals had seen, and Coraki and South Lismore flooded for the second time in one month.
