Belford Alan Keir was a senior engineer with the federal Department of Housing and Construction. He joined the department as a cadet in 1949 and moved to Sydney in 1966 where he was construction manager for the international terminal complex. He also worked on other major projects associated with Sydney Airport; the diversion of the Alexandria Canal, construction of the extension of the north-south runway into Botany Bay, the tunnel taking General Holmes Drive beneath the runway extension and a new operations centre. - Collection historyPassed by descent from donor's father
- Scope and ContentThis collection consists of two work diaries that were written between 12 September 1966 and 8 October 1969 by Belford Alan Keir who was the project engineer and construction manager of the the Sydney Airport International Terminal. Each diary entry is dated and discusses issues such as meetings, staffing and decisions made about the project's development. The first diary contains two photographs; one at the official opening by Queen Elizabeth II and the other of a portrait of Belford Alen Keir. A singular page at the end of the second diary is dated 31 March 1971.
