    Dean Sewell (1971-) is a Sydney based photographer. He started his career as a new photographer for the Sydney Morning Herald. He won World Press Photo Awards for his work on the tsunami aftermath in Aceh, Indonesia, 2005; Australian bushfires, 2002; and East Timor, 2000. He was Australian Press Photographer of the Year, 1998 and 1994. Sewell co-founded the Australian photographic collective, 'Oculi", 2001.

    The Hawkesbury-Nepean floods in July 2022 were the fourth major flooding event in the region for the year. The Sydney suburbs near the Hawkesbury-Nepean River were again flooded after torrential rain in July, 2022. The river peaked at 13.93 metres, approximately at midday 5 July, the biggest flood since March 1978.
