  • ADMINISTRATIVE/ BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

    Mary Lord (1929-2008), an academic, editor, biographer, reviewer and columnist, championed Australian literature throughout her career. During the 1970s she taught in the English department at Monash University and was instrumental in establishing the Association for the Study of Australian Literature in 1978. Lord became NSW editor of the Australian Book Review, returning to Melbourne in 1984 as director of the National Book Council.
