Oliver Trickett (1847-1934) was a surveyor and speleologist who was responsible for surveying and mapping many of the limestone caves in New South Wales, including the Jenolan Caves. In his role of ‘Draughtsman and Surveyor’ at the Geological Survey Branch of the Department of Mines, New South Wales, Trickett produced a large number of surveys, maps and models. He also wrote guidebooks for the Abercrombie, Bungonia, Wellington, Wombeyan, Yarrangobilly and Jenolan Caves. Notable accomplishments include the first large-scale topographic map of the Blue Mountains (1901), a relief model of Sydney Harbour (1925) and a model of the Broken Hill lode which received a gold medal at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition (1915).
