Planning for Sydney Harbour Bridge began in earnest in 1912 when Dr John Bradfield was appointed Chief Engineer of Sydney Harbour Bridge. In 1922 English firm Dorman Long and Co Ltd won the contract to construct the bridge. It was built between 1925 and 1932 with over 2,000 people having been employed to work upon it.

Albert Henry Fullwood (1863-1930) moved from Birmingham to Sydney at aged 20 in 1883. Fullwood worked on the Picturesque Atlas of Australia and was an official war artist in the First World War.
