  • Scope and Content
Peter Webster spoke in detail about his early life and his transition from being a teenager to an adult. The interview includes details of, and interesting reflections on, his encounters with a psychiatrist his parents sent him to after he ‘came out’ to them. He talked about how social networks operated at the time and the importance of the introduction of early anti-discrimination legislation.

Webster also discussed his involvement in the movement to decriminalise male homosexuality in New South Wales in 1983, including attending many rallies outside the New South Wales Parliament, in Macquarie Street. The interview also includes considerable discussion about Metropolitan Community Church Sydney and its critical involvement in establishing and maintaining key HIV/AIDS care organisations.
