​​Mary Jo Capps AM has worked in the Australian cultural industry for over 40 years after graduating with an MA in Musicology from the University of Toronto, Canada. She has been Deputy Managing Director and Director of Development with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, a consultant in Development and Strategic Planning to various organisations, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Bangarra Dance Theatre, Company B Belvoir and NIDA, and CEO of Musica Viva Australia, 1999–2018. Capps was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Melbourne for her services to the arts and a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for her services to music and business.
